The Montaña Sagrada Nature Reserve is located in the community of San José de la Montaña; 9km east of Sucre de Ciudad Quesada, San Carlos. At the foot of the Juan Castro Blanco National Park.
The tour begins with a brief description of the history, importance and creation of Montaña Sagrada natural reserve.
Later, during the 4km journey trails, the local guide will talk about the great diversity of flora and fauna present in the Cloud Forest.
You will have the opportunity to observe a large number of birds, currently 144 species are reported, including the quetzal and the Goldfinch. With any luck you will be able to see some mammals; and at the end of this path you will enjoy the impressive landscape that contains “Pozo Verde”, the main attraction of the reserve. Please note that this tour in volves hikes through mountainous terrain.
Back at the Visitor Center, a delicious lunch awaits you by the fireplace.
In the second part of the tour, back to the forest, this time a shorter walk to visitthe Carbon capture sampling plots, you will learn to do a measurement and sampling practice of Carbon fixed in the forest.
